UPDATE – Weapons Incident on Mountjoy – Suspect Charged

The Timmins Police Service has charged an individual in connection with an assault that occurred on the evening of July 28, 2024. At approximately 9:20 PM, an unknown assailant used an edged weapon to attack a victim at the corner of Second Avenue and Mountjoy Street South, following a brief verbal altercation. The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Adam MATTHEWS, of Timmins, has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order
  • Aggravated Assault

MATTHEWS is scheduled to appear in court on August 9, 2024.
