
(TIMMINS) – Today, at approximately 10:49 a.m., members of the Timmins Police Service responded to a single-vehicle collision on Suzanne Street.
Initial investigation revealed that the driver of a vehicle became airborne and landed on top of a parked vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The officer on scene had reasonable grounds to believe that the driver was impaired by drugs.
The individual was subsequently evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), who formed an expert opinion that the driver was impaired by drugs.
The involved vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 7 days. In accordance with the Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) program, the driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days.
As a result of the investigation, the driver has been charged with the following offences:
- Operation While Impaired – Drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Drug Concentration
- Dangerous Operation
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence
- Fail to Have Insurance Card
The Timmins Police Service would like to remind motorists that impaired driving by alcohol or drugs puts everyone at risk and remains a serious criminal offence with significant consequences.
