
The Timmins Police Service is providing an update regarding the discovery of human remains located in a wooded area off Riverside Drive.
On September 22, 2025, at approximately 1:21 p.m., Timmins Police Service received a call reporting the discovery of human remains in a wooded area off Riverside Drive. Members of the Timmins Police Service attended the scene and initiated an investigation in coordination with the coroner’s office, forensic anthropologist and the OPP Canine Unit.
Following a comprehensive forensic examination and DNA analysis conducted by a forensic anthropologist, the Timmins Police Service has confirmed that the human remains belong to Marc Renaud, who was reported missing on February 19, 2024. The next of kin has been notified.
The Timmins Police Service would like to thank the forensic professionals and investigative partners who assisted in this case, as well as the community members who provided information and support throughout the investigation.
The Timmins Police Service extends its sincere condolences to Marc Renaud’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.
Following a thorough investigation, no foul play is suspected, and the investigation has been closed.
