
The Timmins Police Service has arrested one individual following an investigation into an assault that stemmed from a reported act of mischief.
On June 26th, 2026 at approximately 10:55am, officers responded to a report of mischief after an individual allegedly damaged a window at a local business before leaving the area on foot.
The business owner pursued the suspect and confronted them a short distance away wielding a weapon. During the confrontation, the weapon was used , resulting in injuries to the suspected mischief offender.
The injured individual was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the investigation, one individual was arrested in connection with the assault. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details, including charges, will be released as they become available where appropriate.
The Timmins Police Service reminds the public that while it is understandable to feel frustrated when witnessing a crime or a victim to a crime, personal safety should always be the priority. If you witness a crime in progress or are a victim to a crime, do not attempt to pursue or confront the individual involved. Instead, move to a safe location, observe from a distance if it is safe to do so, and contact police immediately. Prompt reporting allows officers to respond appropriately while reducing the risk of injury to those involved.
