Every year, during the second week of April, the telecommunications personnel in the public safety community, are subject to public recognition for their steadfast dedication and continuous public safety-oriented efforts.
This week-long event, is a time to celebrate and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the public.
The Timmins Police is proud of its own 9-1-1 dispatch personnel and would like to express its gratitude to all TPS tele-communicators for their individual and collective sacrifices made to create a better and safer community for the citizens of Timmins and surrounding area.
Their commitment to their profession is appreciated.
Timmins Police Communications Coordinator, Selena Pearce-Gauthier, adds the following concise but apt quote “Few people realize the vital role these communicators take on in the name of public safety. In emergencies, the 9-1-1 dispatcher is the most important person you will never see, but they remain focused and composed no matter what the circumstance, in order to assist persons in need”
Timmins Police Chief Dan Foy echoes these sentiments by adding “It is most fitting that we recognize and publicly praise our 9-1-1 dispatch personnel. They are the ones who work in stressful situations managing calls from the persons requiring emergent assistance. They are the backbone of our organization and our community is well served by their selfless and skilled dedication to their craft”
