On July 15th, 2024 at approximately 1:53am, two unknown persons completed an unprovoked assault on a victim outside of the Circle K store located at 287 Algonquin Boulevard West. The assault appeared to have been recorded on the suspects’ cellphones. As a result of the attack, the victim sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Criminal Investigation Division of the Timmins Police Service investigated the incident, and identified the two 17-years-old young persons responsible for the assault. Both were charged with assault cause bodily harm.
On July 18 2024, one of the two 17-years-old young persons was located inside a vehicle by police. The young person was arrested for the incident at Circle K. They were also charged with obstruct police and assault police for an altercation that took place at the time of arrest.
The remaining occupants in the vehicle fled from the area in the vehicle. During the investigation, patrol officers determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Sudbury on July 12th, 2024. The remaining occupants of the vehicle were ultimately located at a residence on Sixth Avenue, and patrol officers contained the scene until the vehicle occupants, an 18 years old male, and two 15 years old young persons, were arrested. Police also located a loaded handgun along with a quantity of Fentanyl and cash on one of the young persons.
As a result of this investigations, Daylen DAVID, of Timmins, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, two counts of flight from peace officer, and two counts of dangerous operation of a conveyance. Daylen DAVID was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
One of the two young persons, of Timmins, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, multiple weapons offences including carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose, possession of a loaded restricted firearm, possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order and three counts of failing to comply with a release order. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The second young persons, of Timmins, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 and breach of sentence order. The young person was released on an undertaking.
A warrant to arrest the second suspect for assault at Circle K has being sought.
In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, none of the accused young persons can be identified.
