Between August 13th and 14th, two drivers have been charged with impaired driving.
On August 13, 2024 at approximately 10:51am, Timmins Police Service received a call from a concerned citizen in regards to an erratic driver travelling into Timmins from Highway 101 W. Police intercepted the vehicle on Riverside Drive at Norman Street. Upon further investigations, police arrested the female driver for Operation while impaired and was transported to the Timmins Police Station to conduct a Drug evaluation with a Drug Recognition Expert.
The driver Angela DE RUYTE from Matheson, ON was charged for Operation while Impaired – Drugs and Operation contrary to s. 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada unsafe vehicle contrary to s. 84(1) of the Highway Traffic Act. She was later released from custody on an Undertaking with a court date.

On August 14, 2024 at approximately 11:15pm, police received a call from concerned citizens about a male leaving a bar in the City of Timmins in his car, after having multiple alcoholic beverages. Police located the vehicle and driver at which point officers formed reasonable grounds to believe that the male driver was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested for Operation while Impaired and transported to the Timmins Police Station to conduct Breath testing.
Upon completing a breath test with a Qualified Breath Technician, Philip DOMINGO from Timmins, ON was charged with Operation while Impaired – Alcohol contrary to s. 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada, Operation while Impaired – BAC (80 plus) contrary to s. 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada and Dangerous Operation contrary to s. 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada. He was later released from custody on an Undertaking with a court date.
