
(TIMMINS) –The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man in connection with a series of violent incidents that took place in the community over the past several months.
Despite repeated attempts to locate the accused, he was able to evade police on a number of occasions. Officers remained engaged in their investigations and were ultimately successful in bringing the matter to a close with an arrest on September 21, 2025.
The following incidents were determined to be targeted in nature, with no ongoing threat to the public:
- Robbery (June 29, 2025): Police were dispatched to Second Avenue regarding a robbery. A victim was confronted and assaulted, resulting in a charge of Robbery with Violence against the accused.
- Weapons Offence (August 23, 2025): Officers responded to a report of gunshots in the area of Toke Street. It is alleged that the accused discharged a shotgun in the direction of a victim during a disturbance. The victim was not injured. The accused has been charged with:
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
- Assault with a Weapon
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Aggravated Assault (September 20, 2025): At approximately 2:15 p.m., in the area of Laidlaw Street, the accused assaulted a victim while holding a knife. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Charges include:
- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Threats and Firearm Offences (July–September 2025): The accused was involved in multiple confrontations with a victim over the course of the summer. These included pointing a sawed-off shotgun and demanding money, making threats while referencing a firearm, and chasing the victim while uttering threats. As a result, the accused faces charges of:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Robbery Using Firearm (Restricted or Prohibited)
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
- Assault with a Weapon
- Extortion While Using Firearm
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (two counts)
- Pointing a Firearm
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm (two counts)
- Weapons Arrest (September 21, 2025): At approximately 9:02 a.m., officers responded to a weapons-related call in the area of Laidlaw Street. The accused was located and taken into custody without incident. He has since been charged with:
- Assault
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted Firearm
- Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition (two counts)
As a result of these investigations, Jakob BEISEL, 26, of Timmins remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on September 29, 2025, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins.
“These investigations demonstrate the commitment of our division to pursuing offenders who try to evade police,” said Acting Sergeant Beatty of the Timmins Police Service Criminal Investigation Division. “Our officers remained focused on gathering evidence and locating the accused, which ultimately allowed us to bring these matters before the courts. These were targeted incidents, and there is no concern for public safety.”
