On the 20th of March 2024 Timmins Police responded to a report of shots being fired in the area of Sixth Avenue and Cedar Street North in Timmins. Patrol officers quickly attended and set up containment of the area. Two persons located in the area were detained shortly after police arrival. The Timmins Police Criminal Investigations Section took over the investigation. On the 20th of March 2024, the Timmins Police conducted two separate search warrants in relation to the incident. As a result, 3 individuals have been arrested and charged with various offences related to firearms possession and charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. A quantity of illegal drugs was seized including cocaine, and fentanyl. Two handguns were also located and seized as a result of the warrant executions. A young person who cannot be named has been charged with 11 offences in relation to firearms possession and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act charges. Also, 31-year-old Jerome CAMPBELL of no fixed address has been charged with 11 offences in relation to firearms possession and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences. CAMPBELL has been held in custody pending a bail hearing During the investigation police also executed an outstanding warrant on one of the individuals spoken to; 20-year-old Dwayne CARTER of Etobicoke was taken into custody in relation to charges laid in November of 2023. The charges include Aggravated Assault, Assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, and other weapons charges. CARTER was held in custody pending a bail hearing. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and the police request that anyone with further information contact the Timmins Police Service or Crimestoppers.
