(TIMMINS) The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with theft related offences
stemming from an incident that occurred during the morning hours of Saturday, January 27th at
a local grocery store in Timmins.
Based on investigation, it was determined that the suspect attended at the grocery store and
took possession of merchandise and was halted as he tried to flee without paying for the item.
During the altercation, the suspect struck a 62-year-old male patron.
The suspect was arrested at the scene by the Timmins Police Service
As a result of the incident, Norman WILLIAMS, 55, of Timmins, has been charged with:
- Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possess Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
WILLIAMS remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario
Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
