(TIMMINS) The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal
Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred early this morning in the north end of
the city.
A Timmins Police officer on patrol came upon a fresh motor vehicle collision on Airport Road at
approximately 2:50 a.m. this morning.
The driver fled on foot and was pursued by the officer.
After a lengthy foot pursuit, the driver was eventually arrested in the area of Ninth Avenue.
The officer made independent observations about the driver’s sobriety.
The driver was taken into custody for the purposes of completing Intoxilyzer breath testing
procedures at the police station.
As a result of the incident, a 25-year-old male resident of Porcupine, has been charged with:
- Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Operate Motor Vehicle – Concentration in Excess of 80 mgs of Alcohol per 100 mls of Blood
contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada - Fail to Remain – Collision contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
- 2 counts of Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- 2 counts of Assault a Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Obstruct Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Escape Lawful Custody contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused was released from police custody on the strength of an Undertaking compelling
him to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on January 31st to address the charges
laid against him.
