The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from a robbery that occurred during the morning hours of Monday, February 5th in the north end of the city.
The Timmins Police Service responded to a complaint regarding a male suspect who accosted a 23-year-old male person on the street.
When the man refused to comply, he was assaulted by the suspect.
The suspect then collected items belonging to the victim. The victim fled from the suspect on foot and notified the police.
The responding officers were able to successfully identify, locate, and arrest the suspect a short distance from the original scene.
Based on the outcome of the investigation, Shelby TURNER, 33, of Timmins, has been charged with:
- Robbery with Violence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Carry Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada The accused person remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
