(TIMMINS) –The Timmins Police Service is pleased to announce the launch of its new online police auction website, marking a strategic transition away from hosting auctions on third party sites. The new platform offers a safer, more reliable, and more efficient way for the public to participate in police auctions.
The shift to a dedicated website reflects the service’s commitment to improving transparency, enhancing security, and providing a more user-friendly auction process.
“By moving our auctions to a dedicated website, we gain full control over how the platform operates and avoid the limitations of third-party social media systems,” said Stacey Boucher, Administrative Coordinator. “Previously, auctions hosted on Facebook were occasionally affected by automated processes—such as keyword filters, content restrictions, and unexpected shutdowns that could interrupt our page. Our new platform eliminates these issues and ensures that our auction services remain stable, predictable, and accessible to the community at all times.”
The new platform at www.timminspolice.ca has been developed to improve transparency, enhance security, and offer a more user-friendly auction process. Items listed may include electronics, tools, jewelry, bicycles and other goods collected through police operations.
“This platform is about modernizing the way we manage unclaimed property while giving the public safe, fair access to auction items,” added Stacey Boucher, “It also enables us to operate without the disruptions that come with relying on external platforms.”
The website can be accessed now at www.timminspolice.ca and click on the “Online Auction” button to set up an account. We will start posting items for bidding in early 2026.
