
On Thursday, May 21, 2026, the Timmins Police Service Traffic Unit, with the assistance of patrol officers, conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle travelling westbound on Kamiskotia Road displaying an unauthorized licence plate.
While speaking with the driver, officers observed signs consistent with drug impairment. Police conducted a search of the vehicle and seized a quantity of suspected controlled substances such as methamphetamine, morphine, cocaine, heroin and other controlled substances.
The accused, Nicolas MALETTE, 30, of Timmins, was then arrested and charged with the following:
- Use Plate Not Authorized
- Driving While Under Suspension
- Fail to Comply with Provincial Offences Act Probation
- Owner Operate Motor Vehicle on Highway – No Insurance
- Operation While Impaired – Drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Drug Concentration
- Dangerous Operation
- Five counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Two counts of Possession of Schedule IV Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
The passenger of the vehicle, Natalie PILON, 37, of Timmins, was also arrested on an outstanding warrant held by the Ontario Provincial Police. The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing today on May 22, 2026
