UPDATE as of 8:15PM Mountjoy Street South Area Now Open
The Timmins Police Service is advising the public that Mountjoy Street South between Sterling Avenue and Mohawk Road is now open.
The police presence in the area has concluded, and normal traffic flow has resumed.
The Timmins Police Service would like to thank residents, motorists and members of the community for their patience and cooperation while officers responded to the incident.

Heavy Police Presence on Mountjoy Street South – Traffic Advisory
The Timmins Police Service is advising the public of a heavy police presence in the area of Mountjoy Street South between Sterling Avenue and Mohawk Road.
Police are actively dealing with an ongoing incident in the area. There is no current threat to public safety.
Members of the public are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes where possible. Those in the vicinity are asked to remain patient and allow police officers to safely and effectively do their work.
