The Timmins Police Service is investigating a homicide following reports of shots fired in the area of Rea Street South.
On August 1st, 2026, shortly after midnight, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Rea Street South/Belanger Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located 3 male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers immediately secured the scene and assisted Emergency Medical Services with emergency first aid. 1 male was transported to hospital in vital signs absent (VSA) condition and was later pronounced deceased. 2 other victims were transported to hospital. 1 victim remains in critical condition while the other suffered a non-life-threatening injury.
The Timmins Police Service Criminal Investigations Division has assumed carriage of the investigation.
The area remains under police control and the public is being asked to stay clear of the area until further notice.
The investigation thus far indicates that this incident is not related to the events reported to police on the 31st of July 2026.
