The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the evening hours of Monday, February 5th.
While completing general patrols, a Timmins Police officer had occasion to complete a traffic stop for a seat belt infraction.
When asked, the subject of the incident provided a false name to the police.
He was arrested and weapons and a quantity of a controlled substance was located on the suspect’s person.
As a result of the incident, Peter SUTHERLAND, 44, of Timmins, has been charged with:
- Personation with Intent to Mislead contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Carry Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
The accused was held in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for February 6th at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against him.
A second occupant of the vehicle was arrested on the strength of an Arrest Warrant stemming from an unrelated matter.
