On March 23, 2024, shortly before 2 pm, the Timmins Police Service Uniform Patrol, with the assistance of members of the Ontario Provincial Police, attended an area east of the City, in the area of Carrigan Road for a 911 call.
The investigation continued and a residence on Carrigan Road was contained by police. The Timmins Police Emergency Response Team (ERT) with the OPP ERT and patrol continued containment of the house while contact with the occupants of the house was made. Several occupants did exit the residence and were arrested.
The Ontario Provincial Police Tactical Response Unit (TRU) was then contacted to assist in getting the remaining occupants out of the house and clearing the residence. Shortly before
5 am on March 24, 2024, the two remaining occupants exited the residence and were arrested. The house was then cleared and turned back over to the Timmins Police Service for further investigation.
In total, 8 persons were arrested in relation to this incident. The charges for the accused persons include; Kidnapping, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Assault, Assault with a weapon, and Firearms charges. Six of the eight were held in police custody and remanded into custody on March 24, 2024, with another court appearance scheduled for March 25, 2024.
